After the recent FittestBody photoshoot MC took time out to answer some questions about her journey to becoming a Fitness Model. MH: Tell us a little bit about your early years MC? MC: I was born and raised in the Philippine Islands. I was fortunate enough to have parents that desired a better life for the family and during the late 80's we all moved to the United States. We moved around the US from Virginia Beach to New Orleans before finally settling in Houston Texas. Moving to America was definitely a culture shock, but it was easy to adapt being that I was so young and was just absorbing the whole experience. MH: When did you first get interested in Fitness and Modelling? MC: My first real experience of Fitness Modeling came just a few years ago when I was involved in a Model search. It was my first taste of modeling and I did not know what to expect. Being around young, tall and beautiful ladies that were in the industry for a much longer time made me feel that I need to step up and stick out in my own way. The only aspect of myself that I had complete control over is fitness, so I started eating healthier and working out efficiently.
MH: Does staying fit and healthy come naturally to you? MC: No. It definitely took some work. Growing up, I was taught to eating everything on my plate or else I couldn't leave the table. It was after research and asking fit people about heathly eating habits did I change my ways. Combining healthy meals with efficient work outs is a great way to compound physical results. My secret to staying in shape - work out with someone more fit than yourself. They will motivate and push you to a level you couldn't reach on your own. MH: How do you think people view female fitness models? MC: For those who understand what goes into becoming a fitness model, I feel that they have 100% respect for the hard work and dedication that goes into it. Fitness, to me, is the act of making each day the best version of yourself. Fitness modeling promotes a healthy lifestyle. I do see a big disctinction between fashion and fitness modeling, in my opinion, fashion modeling mainly promotes a product and fitness modeling mainly promotes a lifestyle. MH: Is there anyone you look up to as a role model? MC: Jennifer Nicole Lee and Jamie Eason. MH: What do you think the future holds for you? MC: Currently modeling is not enough to pay the bills and I am a Financial Analyst by profession. I have had some professional assignments, I am the 2009 Bodybuilding.com Controlled Labs Calendar Cover Model and 2009 FittestBody Female Winner I will continue to progress and live a fit healthy lifestyle. There is no doubt in my mind that as long as I keep focused and work hard, I will be successful in my goals.
MH: How has your FittestBody experience been? MC: AMAZING! Never in my life could have imagined that I'd be going to London for living a healthy lifestyle. ModelsHealth was absolutely accomodating and they went out of their way to make me feel comfortable during the shoot. They spoiled Art (2009 Male FittestBody Winner) and I with a tour of the night life, a tour of the city, and the lovely dining experience all over town. Knowing that I was flown to the other side of the world because there are people that appreciated my version of hard work is an absolute humbling experience. Their respect for fitness makes it impossible to take this lifestyle for granted. Thank you ModelsHealth!
